A three (3) phase project for the design and construction of various buildings and dormitories to accommodate elementary, middle and high school student populations.
Phase I the 1st-8th grade student Living and Learning Center project was a new 20,333 sq. ft. single story dormitory with 44 dorm rooms that accommodates 86 students and 4 staff. Phase I included the complete replacement of the elementary school at Rough Rock, AZ including the dormitory, cafeteria, academic/classroom facility, and a gymnasium. JEL was responsible for the site layout including design of all utilities infrastructure consisting of all water and sewer lines. JEL designed the grading and drainage for the elementary school campus encompassing the storm water management and all design for replacement and the rebuild of all parking lots and roadways.
Phase II of this project was a Facilities Improvement and Renovation (FI&R) of the mid school/high school campus. Extensive renovation was completed on all buildings on campus including the gymnasium, academic classrooms and a technical vocational education facility. For Phase II, JEL designed the grading, drainage and storm water management and the complete replacement of all site utilities necessary for the renovations. A new dormitory facility for the mid school/high school campus was also designed and built and was included in the civil engineering design performed by JEL for Phase II. The 9-12 Dormitory was similar in design to the Phase I 1-8 Dormitory. The building contains 52 sleeping rooms, as well as study and recreational spaces.
Phase III of the Rough Rock Community Schools project was the design and construction of replacement of water and sewer infrastructure at the mid school and high school. Also included was storm water management design due to the replacement, and addition, of parking and access roadways. Phase III entailed the design and construction of a new artificial turf athletic field and athletic track for use by the schools and community at large. JEL designed the athletic field substructure drainage and containment area necessary for the installation of the artificial turf field. All site civil construction administration duties were performed by JEL for this project. $63 million
